The most common question I have been asked during the last two weeks is “What will change now that Arizona News Service and the Arizona Capitol Times” are under new ownership≠”

My pledge to the community, our advertisers, subscribers and contacts is – first and foremost – to continue to provide the high level of service that you have been accustomed to. As we move forward you will see changes and enhancements to our products. Our goal locally and the goal of our parent company – Dolan Media – is to constantly grow and change to meet the diverse demands of our core audience, providing the top-notch, exclusive coverage of the capitol and state government that has earned the Arizona Capitol Times its reputation and recognition.

Simply put, we’ll do more. That means more reporting and more coverage of the issues and events that matter most to citizens, businesses and government. The institution the Creighton family created nearly a century ago – which Ned and Diana Creighton have nurtured and grown to great success – is a rare and remarkable service. As Ned said in announcing the ownership change, it is time for the company “to grow with Arizona.” We share the Creightons’ vision for the Capitol Times and its news services, and I am honored to work with a staff that’s clearly the best in the business to make that vision a reality.

In the days and weeks ahead, I’m looking forward to meeting our readers, clients, advertisers, legislative leaders and others in the community who have contributed to the success of this operation.

I’m also looking forward to exploring Arizona. Having been raised outside of Buffalo, N.Y., I’m thrilled to live in an area that has 300 days of sunshine and an average temperature of 74 degrees every year verses 120 inches plus of snow and three months of a “spring-like” summer.

My career started 20 years ago as a reporter with a metro daily in Lockport, N.Y., and has included serving as reporter and then editor of The Daily Record in Rochester, N.Y., and for the last four years publisher of The Daily Record in Kansas City, Mo. (both operations are owned by Dolan Media). At times I also dabbled in radio, having served as an anchor and reporter for a news talk station in Rochester. My husband David is an avid golfer and an assistant pro for Ironhorse Golf Club in Leawood, Kan., who is thrilled to to be relocating to a “golf mecca.”
