Bales Named To State Supreme Court

Governor Napolitano on Tuesday named Scott Bales, a political and legal ally, to the Arizona Supreme Court.
Mr. Bales, a Phoenix lawyer who had worked for Ms. Napolitano at the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, also performed legal work for Ms. Napolitano in her successful 2002 gubernatorial campaign.
Mr. Bales, a Democrat who replaces retired Chief Justice Charles Jones, was selected over two other finalists – Colin Campbell, presiding judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court, and Court of Appeals Judge Ann Scott Timmer.
