Barry Gartell and Anna Cardassi have been named editor and assistant editor, respectively, for Arizona Capitol Reports, Ginger Lamb, vice president and publisher of Arizona News Service (ANS), announced.

Arizona Capitol Reports is the subsidiary of ANS, which publishes the Yellow Sheet Report, the Legislative Report and Legislation On-Line Arizona (LOLA). The promotions follow the April 30 retirement of Ned Creighton, who edited the Yellow Sheet and Legislative Report for more than three decades.

“Barry has been an integral part of producing these products,” Ms. Lamb said. “His leadership and expertise in covering matters at the Capitol have earned him this opportunity.

“Anna is a talented individual with a background in political science, and she will bring a unique perspective to the Capitol Reports team,” Ms. Lamb said.

Mr. Gartell joined Arizona Capitol Reports as associate editor in September 2003 after serving as strategic communications director for the Government Information Technology Agency. He also was the assistant director of the Arizona Association of Counties.

Ms. Cardassi came to ANS in January 2005 after working as a program coordinator and financial administrator at various schools in the Phoenix area, including Thunderbird, The Garvin School of International Management in Glendale.
