Boards
• Rebecca Lynne Burnham was elected to serve a two-year term on Teach For America Board of Directors, Phoenix region. The organization, founded in Phoenix 1994, aims to increase equality in educational opportunities for all students, focusing primarily on improvements in lower income areas.
Ms. Burnham is a shareholder in Phoenix law firm of Greenberg Traurig. Her role as chair of the company’s real estate practice allows her to represent development interests in the areas of acquisition, planning, development, financing, operation and sales. She also represents real estate industry associations in legislative and public policy matters.
She earned her JD from the UCLA School of Law and a B.S. from Arizona State University.
Associations
• Mark Barnes of Barnes and Associates was hired as contract lobbyist for the non-profit Arizona Community College Association for 2006-07 at its September board meeting. He was approved by the board of directors in part for his expertise in fiscal matters.
Barnes and Associates is a government relations and public policy consulting firm, established in 2003. The firm specializes in state budget, taxation (property taxes), education, human services/health care and revenue distribution issues.
Leagues
The League of Arizona Cities and Towns recently hired the following three people:
• Jeffery Kros was hired as legislative director. Mr. Kros, of Scottsdale, previously served as legislative liaison and public information officer for the Arizona Department of Revenue, and as a legislative research analyst for the Senate Finance Committee. He earned his bachelor’s from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and his J.D. from the Creighton Law School. He is licensed by the State Bar of Arizona.
• Dale Wiebusch was hired as a legislative associate. Among other positions, Mr. Wiebusch, of Phoenix, worked as a legislative advocate for the Arizona Coalition Against Domestic Violence and served as director of programs for Stepping Stones Agencies in Prescott. He received his bachelor’s from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minn.
• Jeri Kishiyama Auther was hired as a staff attorney. Ms. Auther, of Phoenix, served as an attorney on the Governor’s Regulatory Review Council, the Department of Health Services and the Attorney General’s Office. She has served on the boards of directors for a number of community organizations, including the Japanese American Citizens League. She received her bachelor’s and J.D. from Arizona State University.
