Jessica Pacheco has been hired by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry as its new senior vice president for public affairs. She will be responsible for working with chamber members on the group’s legislative agenda. She assumes her duties Jan. 1.
Lawmakers honored
Rep. John McComish and Rep. Bob Robson, both Republicans from District 20, were among five lawmakers honored recently by the Arizona Small Business Association for backing business friendly bills. Others recognized were House Speaker Jim Weiers, R-10, Rep. Michele Reagan, R-8, and Rep. Doug Quelland, R-10.
House Democratic Whip Steve Gallardo, D-13, has been honored by Valle del Sol, a nonprofit group, for his public service and efforts on behalf of the West Valley.
Arizona makes a top 10 list
In the war on hunger, a handful of states have made big strides in getting federally funded food stamps to more poor families. Arizona is ranked 10th on that list, according to a study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Milestone
The Hualapai Tribe and the Bureau of Land Management, Kingman Field Office will celebrate the Centennial of the Antiquities Act on Dec. 9 at Indian Point Petroglyph Site, 21 miles north of Kingman. Indian Point contains more than 1,500 petroglyphs dating from 8,000 BC to at least AD 1540. The site recently has been nominated for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. The Antiquities Act of 1906 is the first law that protected archaeological sites on public lands.
