Awards
Rep. Tom Prezelski and Rep. Steve Farley, both Tucson Democrats, were presented with the League of Arizona Cities and Towns Legislative Champion Award at the group’s annual conference in Scottsdale on Aug. 30.
The award highlights legislators who defend the principles of local government control. “Rep. Prezelski was chosen for his consistent, solid support of local decision making and his opposition to special interests that try to erode that authority,” League Executive Director Ken Strobeck said.
“Rep. Farley was an outstanding, smart freshman legislator who quickly learned the ropes and was unafraid to challenge the status quo,” he added.
The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, after a two-month process considering 31 nominees, has announced the following 10 finalists for its 2007 ATHENA Businesswoman of the Year Award.
Dana Campbell Saylor, YWCA of Maricopa County
Susan Gerard, Arizona Department of Health Services

KC Miller, Southwest Institute of Healing Arts
Jill Stamm, Ph.D., New Directions Institute for Infant Brain Development
Choo Tay, Media88, Inc.
