A Chandler firm that disposes of hazardous chemicals agreed to pay an $80,000 penalty for a variety of hazardous waste violations discovered during an April 2006 inspection. At that time, the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality inspectors discovered Safety-Kleen officials had failed to submit 176 signed generator and transporter hazardous waste manifests. The company had previously been cited by ADEQ for similar violations in a 2005 inspection.
Safety-Kleen treats and stores waste solvents, cleaners, antifreeze, paint wastes, photo-developing wastes and dry-cleaning wastes collected off-site.
