State transportation authorities warned drivers on Feb. 4 of a large amount of snowfall and dangerous driving conditions on I-40 near Sanders in eastern Arizona.
More than 12 inches of snow has fallen in the area and the several highways may have to close, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced in a press release. Specifically, State Route 77 north of I-40, State Route 377 and US 191 north and south of I-40 may have to be closed.
For those who must travel, ADOT offers the following tips:
• Give yourself extra travel time
• Slow down and leave extra space between vehicles
• Check your vehicle before traveling, including tire pressure
• Bring extra supplies, including drinking water, blankets and heavy clothing.
Drivers can get the latest information about highway restrictions via ADOT’s Travel Information site at www.az511.com or by calling 5-1-1.
