University researchers seek Valley fever vaccine 

A new research program combining the efforts of Northern Arizona University and the University of Washington aims to create a vaccine for Valley fever, an infectious fungal disease that poses an increasing threat as the climate continues to warm and become drier.

Abortion: The overlooked tragedy for black Americans

During February, which is Black History Month, it is a good time to look upon the triumphs and tragedies in African American history. Movies like Harriet tell of heroes of the Underground Railroad and the struggle against slavery. It is good to honor those stories. There is, however, one tragedy of the African American community that is often overlooked: the tragedy of legalized abortion.

Oh, boy

As the Capitol Times reported yesterday, Gowan has pulled the plug on a planned “civil rights conference” on the House floor that would have been hosted by anti-illegal immigration activists with some radical views on who deserves the credit for African Americans’ fight for freedom and civil rights.
