Citing his authority under ARS 40-241 to inspect the records of public service corporations, Burns told APS to make its accounts, books, papers and other documents, and the individuals who can answer the questions about those records, available for an inquiry that he is launching.
Corporation Commissioners come out swinging in election controversy
A dispute between energy regulators over the role that corporations play in their election is threatening to escalate into a full blown controversy, with one commissioner threatening to subpoena the records of Arizona Public Service as a way of testing the authority of the agency in charge of regulating utilities.
2 regulators: APS and solar companies should stay out of 2016 elections
Arizona Corporation Commissioners Susan Bitter Smith and Bob Burns want public service corporations and other entities, including solar companies, to “voluntarily refrain” from making campaign contributions that affect Corporation Commission races.
