With Arizona State Parks facing an uncertain future due to budget cuts, Lake Havasu City is proposing taking over operations of a popular facility there.
State Parks task force recommends $15 surcharge at MVD
A task force appointed by Gov. Jan Brewer recommends adding $14 or $15 to annual vehicle registrations to help sustain Arizona State Parks. The recommendation from the Task Force on Sustainable State Parks Funding includes the ability for vehicle owners to opt out of the fee. Those who pay it would receive free admission to state parks.
Compliance with law requiring $25 decals for OHVs below expectations in first year
Supporters hoped a state law requiring owners to purchase $25 decals to operate off-highway vehicles would raise $4 million to $6 million annually to help fund rider education, law enforcement and other projects.
