Fiber fiasco – House to spend $642,000 on new carpet
After spending more than $325,000 on renovations in the past year, and abandoning plans to spend another $2 million on renovations, the House of Representatives is undergoing another facelift – this time to the tune of $642,000.
House construction estimate up to $2 million, but Gowan scales back
The proposed renovations to the Arizona House of Representatives building were estimated at more than $2 million – double what sources had originally said the project would cost, documents released by the Arizona Department of administration show.
House undergoing $335,000 renovation
As one of his first acts as Speaker-elect, David Gowan is making some renovations to the “People’s Chamber.” Gowan has spent and accepted bids totaling more than $335,000 for a variety of renovations in the House, including a new coat of paint throughout the building, testing for asbestos and installing new carpet on the House floor and members’ lounge.
Phoenix officials unsure when castle will reopen
The city of Phoenix owns a castle and has spent millions fixing it up. There's still more work to be done on the Tovrea Castle near Papago Park in east Phoenix, and city officials aren't sure when it will be open to the public.
