Pearl Harbor survivor Jack Holder dies in Arizona at age 101

Jack Holder, a Pearl Harbor survivor who went on become a decorated World War II flyer who flew over 100 missions in the Pacific and European theaters, has died in Arizona. He was 101.

The Arizona State Veterans Home in Phoenix, near Indian School Road and Third Street, is a 200-bed nursing care facility.

Lack of federal funding leaves proposed state veterans homes in limbo

In 2015, the state budget included $9.2 million for a new veterans state home in Yuma. In 2017, $10 million was designated to build a state home in Flagstaff. However, construction is stalled on both projects because this state funding makes up only 35 percent of total costs.

VA: No evidence of allegations in Phoenix

The nation's head of veteran health services told lawmakers Wednesday that a preliminary review found no evidence to support recent allegations of corruption and unnecessary deaths at the agency's hospital in Phoenix.

Clinic opens as Phoenix VA deals with negligence allegations

A new Phoenix-area clinic that is expected to serve thousands veterans opened Saturday as local VA officials face allegations of negligence.

Peering through the new prescription glasses he just got from the veterans hospital, Korean War veteran Gilbert Torres sifted through a stack of papers detailing claims he’d had pending with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs since July 2011.
