MESA – New home construction permits are on the rise in Mesa.
The city has seen an increase in the permit activity since falling below 20 in February.
Mesa saw 72 permits in June, the latest numbers available.
The number of permits is considered a good measure of upcoming home construction activity.
Homebuilders say the industry is not back to normal levels, but they’re reporting steady progress both in sales and construction of new homes.
Greg Burger, who is co-principal of a real estate research firm, RL Brown Housing Reports, says builders who adjusted to the downturn in the market are now reaping benefits.
He says builders who came up with new products, amenities and price points are doing well
