3:30 pm: Candidate calls march “a monumental event”

Gubernatorial candidate Len Munsil says he is pleased today’s immigration rally at the Capitol has been peaceful.
In an interview nearly drowned out by speakers on the north lawn of the House and helicopters circling overhead, the Republican candidate said the march and rally are “a monumental event in Arizona history, and I wanted to see what it looked like. I think it’s great to have this many people and have it peaceful.”
Mr. Munsil has called for tougher security at the border with Mexico and today added that it’s time to temper the talk about illegal immigration.“The rhetoric on both sides is getting to a dangerous level,” he said.
