Governor Napolitano, a supporter of the invasion of Iraq but a critic of how the war has been conducted, said that she can’t immediately see lessons for fellow Democrats from Sen. Joe Lieberman’s primary loss to an anti-war challenger in Connecticut.
However, it was already clear that Congress and voters should focus on an exit strategy, Ms. Napolitano said during her weekly availability Aug. 9.
Ms. Napolitano, the new chair of the National Governors Association, was asked whether Mr. Lieberman’s primary loss would affect other Democrats nationwide.
“It’s impossible to say. Every state is different. Every state’s electorate is different,” Ms. Napolitano said.
