The Citizens Clean Elections Commission has promoted fiscal services manager Colleen McGee to deputy director.
Ms. McGee has served with the CCEC, which oversees the state’s system of publicly funded campaigns, for four years. As deputy director she will assist Executive Director Todd Lang with administration, staff management, candidate debates and enforcement actions against candidates who violate the state’s election laws and commission rules.
“We are very pleased to elevate Colleen McGee to the deputy director post,” said CCEC Chairwoman Marcia Busching. “Colleen has tremendous knowledge and expertise working with the Clean Elections Commission, and continues to serve as a true asset to the commission and staff.”
As fiscal services manager, Ms. McGee had the responsibility of overseeing the commission’s finances, including its annual budget and funding provided to candidates for statewide and legislative offices.
She said that she is happy with her new responsibilities with the commission and the increased interaction with the commissioners.
“I was thrilled Todd selected me as his new deputy and I look forward to working with him and the staff,” she said.
Prior to working with the CCEC, Ms. McGee spent 22 years with the California Fair and Political Practices Commission, which implements disclosure requirements for campaigns and lobbying efforts.
Ms. McGee replaces former Deputy Director Eric Gorsegner, who resigned from the commission in July 2005.
Mr. Gorsegner was named to serve as policy adviser for Barry Wong, who recently was appointed to the Arizona Corporation Commission.
