More than 2.5 million registered voters in Arizona are eligible to go to the polls in Tuesday’s primary election, according to the Secretary of State’s Office.
Secretary of State Jan Brewer says that voter registration was at 2,533,308 — an increase of 93,164 voters since the September 2004 primary.
Statistics show that there are 1,003,977 registered Republicans in Arizona, 847,490 registered Democrats, 16,529 registered Libertarians and 665,312 voters registered as Independents or members of unrecognized parties.
However, those figures represent decreases of 38,433 Republicans, 43,371 Democrats, 1,264 Libertarians and 8,173 Independents and other voters since March.
Mrs. Brewer said the decreases can be attributed to a clean up of the voter lists by county recorders around Arizona.
