With less than 6 percent of votes outstanding, Arizona Capitol Times is reporting that former state representative Joe Hart has defeated Larry Nelson in the Republican primary for State Mine Inspector.
After 94.3 percent of the votes were counted, Mr. Hart held a nearly 3,100-vote lead over Mr. Nelson, 103,404 to 100,308.
Mr. Hart served in the House from 1993-2000 and from 2003-2004. Two years ago, he lost to Ron Gould in the District 3 Senate primary election. Mr. Nelson worked as an administrator in the State Mine Inspector’s Office from 1995-2001.
