Early, absentee voting available in most states

Arizona Capitol Reports Staff//October 13, 2006//[read_meter]

Some states call it early voting; some call it in-person absentee voting. One state offers vote-by-mail.
Whatever the name, a growing number of states allow voters to cast ballots well before Election Day without having to provide an “excuse” for why they’d rather not wait.
16 states allow no-excuse early voting: Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia.
15 states allow no-excuse, in-person absentee voting: Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
1 state is all vote-by-mail: Oregon.
3 states allow no-excuse absentee voting by mail but not in person: New Jersey, Ohio, Washington.
