3 western Arizona cities seek study for regional airport

Arizona Capitol Reports Staff//November 24, 2006//[read_meter]

Members of the city councils for Bullhead City, Kingman and Lake Havasu City plan to ask the state to fund a study that will include a recommendation for the best location for a regional airport hub.
The idea of a regional airport hub, to attract a major carrier to one of the three cities’ airports, was first broached in June.
A transportation committee made up of staff members from the three cities later determined that a professional consultant would be needed to select which airport can best serve as a regional hub.
The consultant would review the business and recreational travel each airport is handling, as well as billing locations and flight destinations to determine the feasibility of a regional hub.
The Tri-City Council, which is made up of members of all three city councils, will be making a request next month to the Arizona Department of Transportation to fund the study and solicit bids for a consultant.
