Kids Voting USA is moving its Tempe-based headquarters to Washington, D.C., early next year in an effort to expand the national civic education program and raise more money.
Christopher Heller, president and CEO of Kids Voting USA, said moving to the nation’s capital should make it easier to raise the money needed to grow the business and reach more students throughout the country.
By having its headquarters in Arizona, he said the company is out of the mainstream and Washington is “closer to fundraisers and it’s closer to policy-makers.”
The current office in Tempe houses a staff of five. Mr. Heller and one other staff member will make the relocation move.
Kids Voting USA was founded in Mesa in 1988 and is designed to teach students in kindergarten through 12th grade how to participate in the electoral process.
Currently, the program reaches 4 million students nationwide and is located in 28 states and Washington, D.C. The new office is expected to be open by February.
