Legislative leaders have adopted a schedule that is designed to end the 2007 session in late April or early May. Deadlines for committee consideration of bills and for final adjournment are set by House and Senate rules and can be changed by a vote of the members.
The following are the newly set deadlines for action on bills during the 2007 Regular Session:
January
8 Session convenes; bill pre-filing ends.
11 5 p.m. House limit of 7 bills per member is imposed.
16 5 p.m. Last day for members of the Senate to submit bill-drafting requests.
29 5 p.m. Last day for members of the House and Senate to submit bill-drafting requests.
February
5 5 p.m. Last day by rule for bill introduction in the House without special permission.
16 Last day by leadership order for House committees to consider House bills and Senate committees to consider Senate bills.
March
16 Last day by leadership order for House committees to hear Senate bills and Senate committees to hear House bills.
April
13 Last day for conference
committees.
17 100th day.
21 Saturday of the week of the 100th day of session – date required by rule for sine die adjournment unless leaders extend the deadline (leadership can extend it no more than 7 days; thereafter, any extension requires a majority vote in each chamber.)
