A Homeland Security Force, separate from the National Guard, is established under the control of the governor and funded by legislative appropriations. S 1133 TRIBAL COMMUNITY COLLEGES; TAX TRANSFER
The ten year term of a compact between an Indian tribe and the state to require the state to remit to tribes for use by tribal community colleges the sales tax revenue from sources located on tribal lands may be extended for an additional ten years after a hearing and review by the Joint Legislative Budget Committee. The maximum amount that may be remitted to a tribe in any fiscal year is changed to the lesser of $1.75 million or 10% of the total received. Formerly, the maximum was $1.75 million. A requirement that only those tribes that had compact with the state in place is fiscal 2001-02 are eligible to receive monies under this law is repealed. First Sponsor: Sen.
