Thrasher distancing herself from ad

Former state Rep. Jackie Thrasher is distancing herself from an ad campaign that seeks to tie her with Rep. Jim Weiers in her District 10 quest to be returned to the House.

Apparently someone named “Bill Smith” sent out an email blast with a graphic reading: “Keep the winning team: Vote Weiers, Johnson, Thrasher. Paid for by Bill Smith.” And just this week, campaign signs with a similar message began appearing in the Phoenix district. Thrasher says she has no idea who “Bill Smith” is. He doesn’t have a registered committee, and the site on the email – “bringjackieback.net” – is defunct. “We don’t want to be anywhere near Jim Weiers,” said Chuck Foy, with Thrasher’s campaign. “There will probably be two Democrats running. We don’t want to be linked with Jim Weiers.” Foy said Thrasher is considering whether to file a formal complaint with the secretary of state.
