Highlights of Community Involvement: “While in the Marine Corps I was involved in the Young Marines program for a bit. I did Toys for Tots with the Marine Corps Reserves. I sat on the Glendale Neighborhood Advisory Commission, and I’ve also been very active in my union, UFCW Local 99.”

Why He Ran: “After I came back from the Marine Corps, I was really disappointed in what I saw and how the communities had transformed. … I thought with the skills that the Marine Corps had taught me, I could be an effective leader in my community. I knew it would also be a way for me to serve again.”

His Focus: Jobs, veterans, education.

Bills: Plans to introduce a pair of veterans bills, one of which will focus on education and the other on the exchange of information from the Arizona Department of Transportation to the state Department of Veterans Services for statistical use and for veterans outreach.
