Farm bill squeaks through House; almost entire Arizona delegation opposed

The House barely passed a farm bill Thursday afternoon, with only one member of the Arizona delegation supporting the measure after House leaders stripped the food stamp program out of it.

A House subcommittee grilled Customs and Border Patrol agents Thursday over Southwest border security, charging that agents cannot identify which areas of the border are most dangerous.

Report: Number of border deaths remained steady, even as crossings fell

WASHINGTON – The number of people who died in Pima County while trying to cross the border from Mexico remained steady in recent years, even as the number of border-crossers dropped, according to a report released Wednesday.

Arizona ranks high for soundness of its bridges – but so did Washington

Arizona tied for third-best in the nation for the structural soundness of its bridges in 2011, with just 3 percent of bridges deemed structurally deficient, compared to to 11.5 percent nationwide.
