Give Arizonans the choice they deserve when it comes to electricity

As the Arizona Corporation Commission deliberates opening up Arizona’s electricity market, anti-competition voices are busy making claims that the sky will fall if customers are empowered to choose their energy supplier.

Arizonans should say ‘no thanks’ to electric deregulation

For the second time, Arizonans are being asked to abandon the longstanding and straightforward structure for provision of universal and fairly priced electric service — rate-of-return regulation of utility companies — for a “de-regulated” structure that would involve multiple sellers of the same electricity. They should once again politely decline.

Immigration reform matters to small business

When we look at the complex and contentious issue of immigration reform, some wonder how big of an issue it is to small businesses. The answer is that it’s just as big of an issue to America’s small business community as it is to corporate America.

Fred DuVal is right on the issues

Arizona Republican Party Chairman Robert Graham describes Fred DuVal as “the most uninteresting man in the world.” As a native of Arizona who has met Fred several times, I would suggest that Robert Graham get to know him better.

Keep the momentum moving forward

Over the past nearly six years, I’ve witnessed a system of care that is making progress. I often read statements from the opposition that simply don’t stand up to objective scrutiny. I am a former police officer who is now disabled. While I appreciate all opinions, I feel it’s paramount that debate be based on facts and logic and not [...]

Except for Medicaid expansion, 2013 session provided solid advancements for small business

Honestly, very little of what happens each legislative session is truly memorable to the great majority of Arizonans. Just ask anyone who’s not a subscriber of the Arizona Capitol Times what distinguishes the 2007 legislative session from others… or the 2010 or 2003 sessions.

Shockingly, nearly 55 teens become pregnant in Arizona every day and 46 percent of high school students report being sexually active. According to a University of Arizona study, Arizona has the third highest rate of teen pregnancies in the nation. This costs state taxpayers about $300 million a year.
