Gov. Doug Ducey wants a big change in state election law that he said should lead to people knowing the outcome of all contested races that night, or soon after.

Nonpartisan groups across Arizona are working to put ranked choice voting on the ballot in 2024.  One group, Voter Choice Arizona, is dedicated to reforming the state’s election system to move away from two-party elections and hyper-partisanship. 

Let’s be clear. Canvassing is not soliciting. Still, many remain confused over the difference between the two, including the Phoenix Police Department.

A video which shows a Citizens for a Better Arizona canvasser dropping hundreds of ballots into a box at the Maricopa County Elections Department has re-ignited the debate over “ballot harvesting” by voter outreach groups. The practice is perfectly legal. But that hasn’t stopped critics from claiming voter fraud and even posting death threats against the canvasser in the comments section of the video on YouTube.

Now that the election results have been officially canvassed and certified, returning legislators and their new colleagues can start introducing legislation for next year’s session.

A recount has confirmed that Arizona’s Proposition 112 failed by the slimmest margin in state history.
