Last-ditch attempt for special session today
Late yesterday afternoon, Brewer’s office said it would not be issuing a special session call to remove Mathis from the IRC.
Reports filed, but mysteries remain
The recall election targeting Pearce is turning out to be one of the most expensive legislative races in recent history. Groups that spearheaded and fought the recall effort raised and spent about $215,000.
… Or go to the ballot in February
Rather than pursue removal of the redistricting commissioners, many senators seem keener on asking voters to revamp the redistricting process – potentially through a proposition on the Feb. 28 presidential preference primary ballot.
GOP delegation making removal push
The congressional delegation has been calling Senate Republicans to gauge support for removing at least one of the redistricting commissioners, ostensibly with the hope of convincing Brewer to begin removal procedures by showing her there are the 20 votes needed in the Senate.

Smith: Adams shouldn’t stay out of LD18 recall
On Friday, S Smith attacked Adams in a commentary that was posted on the conservative Sonoran Alliance blog, saying he shouldn’t stand on the sidelines while “a great conservative patriot like Senator Pearce” is facing a recall spearheaded by liberal interests.
Big biz riding to the rescue?
A gaggle of prominent figures in Arizona business circles is hosting a fundraiser next month for eight Republican senators: Barto, Crandall, Driggs, McComish, Nelson, Pierce, Reagan and Yarbrough. Fliers for the event declare the eight senators “Champions of Business” in 2011, but the general belief is that the pro-business stance the senators took has less to do with tax rates than with how t[...]
