More than 80 candidates and committees suspected of various violations of Arizona’s election laws recently got some good news from the Attorney General’s Office – all is forgiven, thanks to a federal judge’s ruling that invalidated a key campaign finance statute.

CCEC to take action on political committee case, but won’t say what

Following the attorney general’s decision to end the state’s appeal of a federal judge’s ruling against a key component of the state’s campaign finance laws, the Citizens Clean Elections Commission voted to take action of its own, but wouldn’t say exactly what that action will be.

SOS says political committee bill will apply to pending enforcement actions

A top official from the Secretary of State’s Office said the retroactivity clause in its bill to rewrite the definition of “political committee” should prevent the dismissal of any pending enforcement actions based on the old definition.
