Mischaracterization is in the eye of the beholder

The Quality Education and Jobs campaign is alleging that an ATRA employee signed a fake name on one of its petitions while she was inspecting the proposed ballot measure’s language. In a July 9 letter to Horne, initiative chair Ann-Eve Pedersen said a man and woman, who were later identified as ATRA’s Maria Travers and another ATRA employee, went to the office of Petition Partners on June 14.
Montgomery, Romley on opposite sides again
The Save Our Vote committee has enlisted Bill Montgomery to help promote the defeat of the top-two primary initiative, but he won’t be the only person in the fight over the measure with “Maricopa County Attorney” listed on his résumé. It appears that GOP lawmakers were at least considering some kind of competing proposal in recent days. In a July 3 email that a source provided to our reporter, Senate Chief of Staff Wendy Baldo told GOP senators that an alternative proposal was in the works.
No easy answers if you lose
If the courts ultimately keep the Quality Education and Jobs initiative off the ballot, the organizers are going to have to answer a lot of uncomfortable questions from the various businesses who have so far contributed more than three-quarters of a million dollars to the effort. Business community digs deep for Pierce’s PAC
As noted last month, Pierce’s Senate Republican PAC is flush with cash heading into the summer. The committee has nearly $157,000 on hand and raised almost $168,000, thanks largely to the president’s outreach to the business community – and, presumably, his commitment to focusing his chamber’s efforts on pro-business legislation, not immigration.

In the $10 million notice of claim he filed against the City of Phoenix June 29, Bundgaard is asserting that the city, the police and his political enemies colluded to ensure his downfall. He claimed that a police detective, Bryn Ray, not only aided Gould’s ethics committee as a “consultant,” but the police also deliberately withheld information from him.
