GADA technical assistance grants up for grabs

Arizona Capitol Reports Staff//November 23, 2007//[read_meter]

A total of $200,000 has been approved by the Greater Arizona Development Authority’s (GADA) Board of Directors for the group’s 2008 Technical Assistance grants.
The purpose of the grants is to assist cities, towns, counties, special districts or tribal governments in the development of public infrastructure projects. These highly competitive grants are even available for early stage project development elements, such as economic impact analysis, design review, feasibility studies and more.
“As the fastest growing state in the country, communities throughout Arizona are looking for financial resources to pay for much-needed capital improvement projects, and these grants help pave the way,” said Jan Lesher, director of the Arizona Department of Commerce.
While there is no ceiling on the amount of individual grant awards, applicants should note the board intends to make multiple awards from these funds. The board may fund all or a portion of a technical assistance request.
In previous grants, individual awards have ranged from a low of $7,500 to a high of $75,000. The average grant awarded for all previous Technical Assistance Awards is $20,000.
The application process opened Nov. 14 and runs through March 17. The Technical Assistance application package, including all forms, rules and program information, is available by contacting Jennifer Pittman-Leeper at JenniferL@azcommerce.com or calling (602) 771-1136.
