Kaites among Coyotes bidders; bid said insufficient

Former senator John Kaites has teamed up with Jerry Reinsdorf and Tony Tavares, former baseball team owner, in a bid to keep the Phoenix Coyotes in Glendale, the Phoenix Business Journal reports. Reinsdorf, who owns the NBA Chicago Bulls and MLB White Sox, is at the center on a $148 million bid for the Chapter 11 team, and his group is trying to head off BlackBerry mogul Jim Balsillie, who earlier made a $213 million offer to buy the team, conditional on moving it to Hamilton, Ontario. Kaites, an attorney with Ridenour Hiention & Lewis, is a principal with the lobbying firm Public Policy Partners.
