Gov. Jan Brewer has signed the budget that was passed earlier this month by a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers over the objections of Republicans legislative leaders.

There was little doubt that Brewer would sign the entire $8.8 billion budget, as she orchestrated its passage through the Legislature in a special session.

Earlier Monday, Brewer held a ceremony to commemorate her signing HB2010, which allows the Arizona Health Care and Cost Containment System to levy an assessment on health care providers in order to fund an expansion of the state’s Medicaid program. The expansion allows the state to collect an additional $1.6 billion in federal money over the next three years.
