Creighton University addresses health care staffing shortage
Every fall Maricopa County, like many across the country, sees a surge in viral infection cases. From the flu to Covid to RSV, tens of thousands of Arizonans will seek medical care over the next few months. However, as news outlets regularly report, the state faces a significant health care staffing shortage. Limited access to health care not only impacts wellness among individuals and families, but the state as well. Having witnessed this firsthand as president of Creighton University was a primary reason why we sought to expand our presence in Phoenix – at the height of the Covid pandemic – after 16 years of serving the community through partnerships with organizations such as Valleywise Health; District Medical Group and Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.
