Organizer ready to try again to create top-two primary system

With independents now the state’s largest voting bloc, former Phoenix Mayor Paul Johnson said he’s getting ready for another attempt at establishing primary elections that have the top two vote-getters advancing regardless of party.

Goldwater statue that will represent state in Washington unveiled at Capitol

PHOENIX – An 8-foot-tall bronze statue of late U.S. Sen. Barry M. Goldwater unveiled Monday will be displayed at the State Capitol before heading to Washington later this year to represent Arizona at the U.S. Capitol.

Lawmaker aims for law against laser strikes on aircraft

As a Phoenix Police Department helicopter patrolled above north Phoenix the evening of Jan. 21, a green laser aimed from the grounds of a resort hotel illuminated the cockpit with blinding light.
