We should all be able to agree that both Israeli and Palestinian civilians have an unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. After all, such a declaration is not solely for Americans. I certainly appreciate Andrew Thoesen’s emotions and statements (in his Guest Opinion piece, Oct. 18, 2023), but I feel compelled to point out where the skills he uses in his pursuit of advanced science have failed us in the column. Most glaringly, he (1) strongly implies that Israel was responsible for the explosion at the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital yesterday; and (2) that the blast would have been stopped if only our representatives co-sponsored a bill (which they are currently unable to pass) or if President Biden had snapped his fingers.
