Immigration measure sparks competing Capitol protests (access required)

While the Monday press conference to announce a bill to repeal SB1070 set up the potential for a fierce confrontation on the Capitol lawn, protestors mostly kept to their respective sides of the courtyard, with only the occasional comment volleyed between the groups. Protests become celebrations, followed by disorder

Small, peaceful celebrations were held July 28 after U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton halted key elements of Arizona’s immigration law, but that all changed the following day as protesters filled the streets, blocked roads and caused civil disobedience that got dozens arrested.

Big immigration rally – Crosby, Stills, Nash rumored to show (access required)

Police are preparing for a crowd of between 25,000 and 50,000 people to protest at the Capitol this weekend that could draw the likes of Crosby, Stills Nash and, unfortunately, not Young. Rumor has it the famous trio of crooners will make an appearance, though it's not been confirmed. If Neil Young was expected to be here, I would be much more excited, frankly.
