Resigning to ignore the law
In the latest chapter of who may or may not be violating the state's murky resign to run law, it seems at least one legislator didn't know the law even existed. Rep. Ray Barnes, termed out in the House next year, has already formed a Senate campaign committee: not an exploratory committee - a committee.

"I don't think so," Brewer told our reporter following an awards luncheon in Litchfield Park, when asked if the outcome of the vote would affect her decision.
Pierce to Brewer; Brewer to Dems
Reached by phone, Sen. Steve Pierce reiterated to our reporter today his position that Gov. Jan Brewer should sign the budget that's on her desk. "I've given her my word I would continue to work towards it [the sales tax referral], and in the meantime, she should sign the budget that's there and let the state operate like it should," Pierce said.
All is not well in GOP-land

Lobbyists and other interested observers are all speculating on what Gov. Jan Brewer might do. One onlooker, who asked not to be identified, said the Governor's Office, in particular, is keeping mum: "Even the [staffers] who will say, ‘Hello,' to you are choosing not to say anything.
As simple as ABC

Who’s behind the Gorman attack ad?
A video attacking Sen. Pamela Gorman that was posted Sunday (Aug. 16) on YouTube was making the rounds at the Capitol yesterday among lawmakers. The professionally produced, minute-long ad was also reportedly e-mailed to some Republicans in LD-6 by the district's GOP leadership.
